Once upon a time long ago (before mobile phones, sat nav’s and
petrol stations opening on Sunday’s) in a green & pleasant land
(Ireland) a group of beautiful young
girls got together to form the Black Widows Ireland.
OK
so much for creative writing part here
comes the technical stuff !
Black Widows Ireland is an all female motorcycle club,
primarily based in Ireland but has expanded to include members
in the UK, Italy & Switzerland.
The Club was formed in 1989, and over the years members have
come & gone as with all bike clubs, but we are lucky enough to
still have founder members on board. (whether we want
them or not)
During the early years we were very involved in MAG Ireland, and
were fundamental in organising the insurance campaign in the
early 90’s. Several of our members were on the MAG Ireland
national committee right up to 1997.
We
are totally committed to Riders Rights campaigns and as such
have attended events throughout Eastern & Western Europe.
We
spend a lot of our time & money flying the Irish flag abroad
during our travels.
We
are very committed to travelling on our bikes and are proud of
the mileage we have clocked up between us & have made lots of
friends along the way.
We
drive a collection of bikes that range from Harleys to custom
cruisers and from Japanese sports bikes to British Classic’s.
They range from 850cc to 1300cc. We don’t care what our members
ride as long as they ride their bike and continue to enjoy doing
so. We have our own fully qualified mechanic and most of us are
capable of extensive repairs (just as well given the
amount of time some of us spend broken down on the side of the
road. We won't mention any names but our president knows who we
are talking about)
We
have survived as a club for so many years because we are friends
and because of the support of our partners who have been
asked to do all sorts such as staying at home
looking after the babies while we gallivanted across Europe. We
take care of each other and for us that is the essence of being
a bike club, male or female.
We
would like to thank all the Bike Clubs both Irish & Worldwide
and the many individual’s who have welcomed & supported us
throughout the years.
Here’s to new adventures and meeting new friends along the
way....
Hope to see you soon!
